We have decided to home school our 10 year old twin boys for the first time this 2010-2011 school year. We will also be introducing our 3 year old daughter to preschool. Our school system is not up to the standard we feel they should be nor are our children benefiting from staying in it. They have begged for quite a while now to be home schooled due to the things they face daily. After my husband asked them some simple history questions and they could not answer he was on board. He was shocked that they did not know a simple question like who was Christopher Columbus. We as well are a Christian family who loves Jesus Christ very much and we desire to teach them to be strong in his love. Sending them out into a public school system was giving them mixed signals. I have an amazing support system from the moms who home school their children at my church Heartland Baptist located in Alton IL. I named my site Train up a child for this is what God is calling me to train up my children. For those of you considering home schooling but are afraid I read on a web site where a mom said that we taught our children to walk, eat, talk, have manners and much more. Why do we feel we can not continue to teach them instead of trusting someone who does not love them or have our best interest at heart? So please have a look around check out the other blogs I have listed and take advantage of all the free resources available online! God's blessings to each of you. Through him ALL things are possible! Proverbs 22:6 Train a Child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Thanks for the comment. It's nice to see another Alton homeschooler blogging. I just posted some RCHEC plans for Sept & Oct here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/RCHEC/

You spelled "genital" instead of "gentle".
