Home school apple picking

On Tuesday Sept 14th the Riverbend Christian Home Educators Coalition (RCHEC) went apple picking with 15 kids total. We had a blast! This was Reagan's first time apple picking since she was 4 months old. The boys looked forward to apple pie when they got home of course. My wonderful husband who was working evenings this week got up early and went with us so he could watch the kids have fun! This orchard also had a petting zoo and man did the children love that! I have to admit I found a new boyfriend there! I will explain in a bit ;o)

Her daddy when we first got there showed her how to pick an apple. He told her twist and pull. Every apple this baby picked she would say out loud twist and pull. ADORABLE!

Leave it to my kids to have all these animals to pet and fall for an ol' country dog!

Yes I know she is kissing this adorable little thing and well what could I say after my new boyfriend a camel made me kiss him over and over! Yep here I am telling the whole world I kissed a camel! He would put his mouth dead smack on mine and push the other camel out of the way! On of the little boys from the group said man I think he loves you! SOOOO do you know how soft a camels lips are? Ya well I do ;o)

She didn't even realize he was eating her shirt until we got home and she saw the pictures. She said HEY! I think he just really wanted her attention ;o)
That black calf in the background made Nick jump about 5 feet in the air! He had never been close to a calf and he reached in to pet him and just as he did this little thing let out the biggest deepest MOOOO I have ever heard! Nick could not get his hand out quick enough and the look on his face you would of swore that poor little calf took his hand off!
Isn't he handsome?

okay so Nick didn't think so!

And the best part?
WARM APPLE PIE AND VANILLA ICE CREAM!

Another week down

OK i have to say I loved last week! We are relaxing more while getting into our groove. The kids are loving it. I as a mother have watched my sons relationship grow so close together in just 3 weeks. Talk about touching my heart so much! They go on adventure walks together, play together and include each other when they decide to go to a friends house. they also have more patience with their sister! I never pictured myself as a homeschooling mom. I was the one who looked forward to the first day of school. Now i regret all the time I have missed. That's okay though we are on board with it now and doing Gods will by being the ones to teach our children. I want our influence to be stronger then anyone's in their lives. On friday I went and checked out a local homeschooling group. I found them on the web. Also found out one of the ladies from my church is a member! Hum think God is stepping in again? he ALWAYS does if you allow him! I took Alexander with me and he played with other kids while us moms talked. He did not want to leave! This made me feel real good and I can't wait to be able for my kids to go play with these other families. The other children were some of the most polite children i have ever met in my life! Positive influences are always welcome! Anyhow that's our weekly recap. I pray each of you have also enjoyed the week with your children. Remember they are only little once and time will fly like a flash of lighting.

Camp Dubois (Wood River IL)

Last week we studied on Lewis and Clark. We have a local visitors center dedicated to to the history of Camp Dubois. It was very interesting and the kids learned more there hands on then anything i could of taught them off paper!

Paper Mache'

I decided today i wanted the kids to do a little activity to give them something to do. I settled on paper mache' pigs. The boys did okay. My 3 year old ya i chased her off real quick and tonight in the tub was still fighting to get the "glue" out of her hair! We are waiting for the to dry so we can place our second coat on and then later in the week paint them. My husband started off helping Reagan and he VERY quickly left the table and decided to be the camera man. I got the job of taking over with her.
Well off we go into week 2.
Have a good week everyone!

Mr. Wizard

Okay who out there didn't love him if they knew him? A dear friend of mine sent a link of his you tube videos to me due to us talking about my son and science. I can not wait for Nick to get up in the morning and see Mr. Wizard!

our first 3 days

This is our first year home schooling. WOW it is hard trying to get in the swing of things but thankfully my boys are patient and understand! We worked from Wed to Fri. I had my boxes set for Mon-Fri so they were willing to do 2 boxes in one day on Thur and Fri. See how patient they are? LOL! All in all it went smooth. it is harder to keep my 3 year old occupied more then i thought. She gets bored super quick with her boxes. I don't know what to do? ahh I guess I will just keep reading other blogs in search for ideas for her. I also need ideas on physical activities for my boys. We went to the park yesterday but they were bored real quick with that. Does not surprise me they are almost 11. Well here are some pictures from our simi week.
